So...Easter candy is a huge business. Easter is the second most important candy-eating occasion of the year for Americans, who consumed 7 billion pounds of candy in 2001, according to the National Confectioner's Association. I thought these were some interesting facts:
~In 2000, Americans spent nearly $1.9 billion on Easter candy, while Halloween sales were nearly $2 billion; Christmas, an estimated $1.4 billion; and Valentine's Day, just over $1 billion.
~Ninety million chocolate Easter bunnies are produced each year. Chocolate bunnies should be eaten ears first, according to 76% of Americans.
~Each Easter season, Americans buy more than 700 million Marshmallow Peeps, shaped like chicks, as well as Marshmallow Bunnies and Marshmallow Eggs, making them the most popular non-chocolate Easter candy.
~As many as 4.2 million Marshmallow Peeps, bunnies, and other shapes can be made each day. In 1953, it took 27 hours to create a Marshmallow Peep. Today it takes six minutes. Yellow Peeps are the most popular, followed by pink, lavender, blue, and white.
~Candy makers are offering more and more Easter products. In the early 1980s, M&M's became available in pastel spring colors. Reese's makes peanut butter eggs, and Smucker's produces jellybeans.
~Some supermarkets have doubled the space allotted to Easter candy in the past few years as the market has increased.
I think Easter is definitely the best holiday as far as candy goes. Cadbury Mini Eggs happen to be my personal favorite, some others are Bunny Bites, Resee's Eggs, & of course Peeps. So, I thought it would be interesting to hear about everyone's favorite candies for Easter and how do they need to be eaten? Do you eat chocolate bunnies tail first? Ears? or Feet? How about Jellybeans by the handful or one at a time? I want to hear your input...even if I don't know you, don't be afraid to weigh in!

Do the words Spring Break and Mini Eggs bring back any memories? Tell me, what could be better than that combo?
Doesn't for me, where was I during that one? Jerks.
One word chels...Mexico! and don't worry the mini eggs part was the best. There wasn't a whole lot of "good" that went on. But, Hay..sure was fun. Remember the stop at Dillards on the way home?
Hey Natalie, I'm a friend of Chelsea's. Mmmm. Mmm. Mmm. This is going to be the longest comment ever. I love Easter candy. I have to really restrain myself everytime I go to the store so I don't get stuff that I know will just make me sick. My favs are Peeps (hello who doesn't love a peep?) and I actually like those little bubble gums that are in a little egg carton. The gum gets hard and gross fast but I always like getting them. I love the spotted jelly beans that have the green spearment. I also like the bunnies that are chocolate covered marshmallow. Okay I'll stop now but you get the idea. Too bad my husband HATES chocolate.
Remember when we blew the tire out on the way home. Chelsea you were with one of your boyfriends. Too cool for school. Nat- all I have to say is Mere, grandma quilt, grapes!!! hahaha
Holy cow...i don't think i have a personal fav cause i LOVE them all! Actually Peeps are really good frozen if i remember right.
Well I am really on the outside because peeps are nasty, anything marshmellow is.
Maybe we could make Saint George ammends. Ben and I are going down there and staying at the Inn at Entrada for our 4th anny. Anyone want to join us for a weekend of sun? I am sure there are still rooms.

Are you and Ben going to cruise the BLVD. Watch out for 30 year old men in convertables...right Nat? When are you going? The Entrada is sweet.
Those darn cadbury eggs!!! They made me gain like 10 extra pounds from my pregnancy. I'm glad easter is over because i can't resist the candy isle with all of the jelly beans and chocolate. That was really random:)
