Pioneer Day

I almost forgot what this Holiday was all about. {Pioneer Day, July 24th-Official Utah Holidy} I was just feeling like it's a great excuse not to work but then I started thinking, this is probably one of the most imprtant Holidays of the year. I am so grateful to all of my ancestors who left their homeland in beautiful England in search of a better life and religious freedom, ending up here in a somewhat desolate land. I think about some of their hardships and wonder how could they have done it? I don't think i'm strong enough to endure what they did. One of my ancestors crossed with the Willie&Martin Handcart Company. She had already lost one of her children on the boat from England to the U.S. and then she lost her husband at the Sweetwater crossing. He had carried so many people across that he literally couldn't walk any further from the frost he suffered. I can't even imagine the heartache, not to mention all the physical hard ships. I go about my days complaining when the air conditioning isn't working or when the water heater runs out of hot water...i'm pretty spoiled. Anyways, I just wanted to pay a tribute to my ancestors and all the pioneers who were so fearless, I am grateful for them.

HAPPY PIONEER's DAY Nat and Ty and all the family!
This is really nice Holiday to celebrate, and I wish you all to share good moments like these very often!
Lots of love from Aix
I am grateful too as some of my ancestors also crossed with that company...i got that book for Christmas and LOVE it..it makes me so grateful and definately humbles me. Our trials are NOTHING compared to theirs. Yeah for our pioneers!!
