Labor Day Weekend 2008
At the last minute we decided to take off for a little excursion up Highway 1 along the coast. We had a fabulous time and I have a ton of pictures to post. We drove up through LA to Santa Barbara...then hit a little Danish town called Solvang. From there we went through San Luis Obispo to the Madonna Inn, then through Pismo Beach & Morro Bay to San Simeon & Hearst Castle. We ended up in Monterey and stayed there for a couple nights exploring all the little beach towns & places around there. We had such a great time and the scenery was gorgeous.
SOLVANG
These Aebelskivers were delish. They are kind of like a pancake ball covered with Raspberry jam & powdered sugar. Don't go to Solvang without stopping for these.
SAN LUIS OBISPO*MADONNA INN
The Madonna Inn is very unique and is a fun little place to stop.
So, I like pink but this place is a pink palace. This is the dining room complete with pink leather booths, chairs, carpet, & flowers. This was maybe just a bit too much pink...pretty Crazy!
This is the urinal in the men's bathroom. It has a sensor so when you step up water starts flowing down the rocks from the ceiling...talk about interesting.
HEARST CASTLE
This was the highlight of the trip for me...Hearst Castle is absolutely amazing.

Sorry for the insane amount of pictures...this is mostly for our families to see what we've been up to. All in all, we had a great weekend!

what an amazing weekend. grants parents have a beach house in cambria so we've spent a lot of time in st louis and at hearst castle. i love those areas. what a fun get away!!

that looks like crazy fun!!! i thought that swiss days was fun, but you definitely win the prize for the most fun weekend!!!! i also love all the pics. i took my camera up to swiss days for 4 days & have one, not very good picture to show for it.
One more hour and you could have stayed at the Kearl Inn! That little trip looks SO fun...Ty and I should do it in reverse.

What a fun weekend. i'm so jealous. i love how spontaneous you two are.
so fun! i love that drive...but have yet to make it all the way to Monterey.
